Con motivo de la celebración de su 125 aniversario, la Sociedad General de Autores y Editores (SGAE), a través de su Fundación y del Instituto Autor, abordará las inquietudes y los desafíos que genera la Inteligencia Artificial (IA). Con la colaboración de la Consejería de Cultura, Turismo y Deporte de la Comunidad de Madrid y el Ministerio de Cultura, el foro contará con la presencia de referentes internacionales como Jane Ginsburg, directora del Centro Kernochan de Derecho, Medios y Artes y profesora de propiedad intelectual de la Universidad de Columbia; Ryan Abbott, autor del libro The Reasonable Robot: Artificial Intelligence and the Law, (2020, Cambridge University Press); Leonardo Cervera Navas, secretario general del Supervisor Europeo de Protección de Datos; Klaus Goldhammer, autor del informe Estudio económico y estadístico sobre el impacto de la Inteligencia Artificial en el sector musical; Nuria Oliver, doctora por el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts (MIT); Ibán García del Blanco, eurodiputado y portavoz de Socialistas y Demócratas (S&D) en la Comisión de Asuntos Jurídicos; Lara Chaguaceda, subdirectora General de Propiedad Intelectual del Ministerio de Cultura; Alejandro Puerto, registrador de la Propiedad Intelectual de Madrid; y Cristina Perpiñá-Robert, directora general de SGAE, por citar algunos.
La directora del congreso y presidenta del Instituto Autor, Marisa Castelo, subraya que la inteligencia artificial ha invadido de forma súbita la sociedad. “Oímos hablar continuamente de inteligencia artificial pero lo cierto es que no se ha abierto un debate serio y profundo en España sobre su impacto en el área de las industrias culturales, el derecho de autor y los derechos afines. Estamos yendo muy tarde, muy por detrás de lo que ya está sucediendo, habida cuenta que no estamos hablando de futuros lejanos”, advierte.
El presidente de SGAE, Antonio Onetti, considera que es urgente una reflexión profunda sobre el impacto global de la IA en los derechos de propiedad intelectual: “Es hora de escuchar a quienes están en primera línea para ofrecer soluciones a asuntos de vital importancia para el desarrollo del sector: cómo promovemos la diversidad cultural y aseguramos que la IA no perpetúe los prejuicios y desigualdades existentes”.
Todas y todos ellos darán respuesta a cuestiones como la aplicación de la IA en la industria cultural y su efecto en los contenidos protegidos, el uso ético y sostenible de esta tecnología en el futuro, la regulación legislativa en la Unión Europea (UE), la minería de datos, la censura algorítmica del arte o los últimos acontecimientos y tendencias actuales en Estados Unidos en el uso de la inteligencia artificial, entre otras.
International Congress: Intellectual Property and Cultural Industries in the face of Generative Artificial Intelligence

The director of the congress and president of the Instituto Autor, Marisa Castelo, remarks that artificial intelligence has suddenly invaded society. «We hear about artificial intelligence all the time, but the truth is that no serious and deep debate has been opened in Spain about its impact in the area of cultural industries, copyright and related rights. We are going very late, far behind what is already happening, given that we are not talking about distant futures«.
SGAE’s president Antonio Onetti believes that a deep reflection on the global impact of AI on intellectual property rights is urgent: «It is time to listen to those on the front line to offer solutions to issues of vital importance for the development of the sector: how do we promote cultural diversity and ensure that AI does not perpetuate existing prejudices and inequalities?»
All of the speakers will answer questions such as the application of AI in the cultural industry and its effect on protected content, the ethical and sustainable use of this technology in the future, legislative regulation in the European Union (EU), data mining, algorithmic censorship of art or the latest developments and current trends in the United States in the use of artificial intelligence, among others.
